A tentatively positive update to our bullying situation:
I spoke with Mr. Middleschool 6th Grade VP a few minutes ago. The VP spoke with the boy’s mother yesterday and she “does not tolerate that sort of behavior in her household and will deal with Stuart.” He had a detention yesterday. Mr. VP couldn’t give me much more in the way of details for privacy sake, so whatever. Mr. VP is going to be spending his time in the class today to drive his point home that he’s watching the kids AND the teacher.
He wasn’t aware that the girl in this situation was a bully, had taken a break, and that this situation over the past week made her start up again. He also wasn’t aware that the kids have been trying to get my daughter to take back what she said about Stuart bullying her and/or begging her to make it sound like she exaggerated to get them into less trouble, etc. and the other stuff in the original post about Girl Power.
I also had to remind him about how disappointed and dissatisfied I am in the wood shop teacher’s response to the situation and the fact that he never reported it even though he was required to. Even though my daughter did, in fact, tell him that Stuart physically threatened her and was intimidating enough to make her feel afraid for her safety. Mr. VP is going to handle that today as well.
So there’s progress but I’m going to save whether or not I’m satisfied. It’s too soon to see if this is really resolved.
If there’s no improvement then I’m going to insist that Stuart be moved away from my daughter and not vice verse. I hope that they make the little twerps apologize to her. Both Jan’Iah and Stuart.
