Care to place guesses on what the seven year old is dealing with? She takes allergy medication daily: Claritin. In the past the allergies have lead to a cold. The difference this time is that she’s complaining of her gums aching. When she blows her nose it seems to be clear rather than opaque but that doesn’t always mean it’s not an infection. She’s also complaining of a sore throat however she has also been coughing from post-nasal drip. So far, no fever that I’ve caught. The pain in her gums/teeth was bad enough for her to ask for Advil at bed time and again before school this morning. She’s VERY congested.
Don’t worry, I won’t be taking your votes and suggestions as concrete medical advice. As soon as she gets home from school I’m taking her to the pediatrician in case it’s an infection or something I didn’t think of.
Where is she in the process of getting her adult teeth? That would be my first thought, but only because we have the same set of symptoms and my girl is getting her two-year molars.
She’s been losing teeth left and right. We’re working on losing the front teeth. She won’t lose molars for a while and in fact, it turns out that she’s teething her 7 year molars on the left AND has a gum irritation to boot. My 11 year old has been losing her molars, though.
i think you are talking about me. this is how i get during allergy season. all the key symptoms you mentioned
In addition to all of the teething the pediatrician said she’s having really bad allergies AND actually does have a cold too. Her immune system wonked out with the allergies. I feel so bad for her. It’ll hopefully be a restful weekend.
My worry was that with the jaw pain on top of the sinus pain that she was building a sinus infection. SO RELIEVED it’s not serious.
